ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada doubled down on his suggestion from last week saying on Monday that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, should take over the party’s reins from his brother, Nawaz.
“Shehbaz Sharif is an obedient brother and that’s why I said that he should take over the party and I still adhere to my statement,” said Pirzada.
He said that there is no double meaning or conspiracy behind what he says.
“We don’t object to Nawaz’s leadership but we are concerned how the party will win the next elections,” said Pirzada.
Last week, in an apparent sign of a revolt, Pirzada suggested that Shehbaz would be the best choice to lead the party and that there will be a vacuum in party lines if Shehbaz was not made president.
He further added that Shahbaz should lead the party as he understood the people’s issues better and his leadership would definitely be in the better interests of the party.
