ISLAMABAD: National Security Adviser (NSA) Nasser Khan Janjua has on Wednesday stated that Pakistan has been a saviour for Afghanistan in the past.
While addressing the International Counter-Terrorism Forum, he added that Pakistan had always helped Afghanistan being concerned with its peace and stability. Both countries had paid the price in war on terror, he said.
Janjua also said that Pakistan respected the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan.
Our sacrifices in this war are not acknowledged by the international community and despite our support to the US, we were alleged of supporting terrorism, he said plaintively.
He also remarked that if Pakistan hadn’t allied with the US, Afghanistan might not have been free today. If the Soviet Union hadn’t been downed, would the Berlin Wall have been taken down and 14 countries freed? Would the US have become a superpower if the Soviet Union persisted, he asked.
He said that after the fall of Soviet Union, the US and international community had moved out of Afghanistan and left Pakistan to deal with the after affects of the Afghan War. He also declared that 9/11 happened because of the incomplete work left by the international community.
NSA Janjua also remarked that Taliban labelled the US and the international community as usurpers on their land after the US took down their government.
Taliban call this a war for their freedom claiming that Pakistan supports the US, whereas US alleges Pakistan of supporting the Taliban, he said.
He also said that Russia had supported Pakistan and Afghanistan throughout and Pakistan shared good relations with the Russian federation.
Janjua added that all provinces worked together making the National Action Plan a success. He also said that the government had worked to bring peace in the region of Balochistan.
